Vitamin D is one of the only vitamins that the body naturally produces via exposure to an adequate amount of sunlight. To reap these benefits, we need around 1 hour of direct sunlight per week. Research shows that as we get older our bodies produce less vitamin D so adults are advised to monitor and regulate their diets to ensure they are getting enough.
